Prime Minister Hun Manet Offers Guidance to Khmer Artistes Association

Phnom Penh, July 3, 2024 – Prime Minister Hun Manet met with the leadership of the Khmer Artistes Association (KAS) at the Peace Palace this morning, providing strategic recommendations to enhance the organization's effectiveness and its role in cultural preservation.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Hun Manet urged the association to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts to meticulously study, research, document, and identify artworks. He emphasized the importance of expanding the dissemination of artworks through the organization of cultural events and activities, aiming to broaden public appreciation of Cambodia's rich cultural heritage.

The Prime Minister advised the KAS to continue its dynamic approach in the cultural sector, promoting the arts market through innovation and sustainability. He also stressed the importance of adhering to ethical standards within the artistic community and encouraged the association to support educational initiatives, including campaigns against illicit drug use and efforts to foster original content creation.

Neak Oknha Mao Chamnan, President of KAS, updated the Prime Minister on the association’s recent achievements, including revisions to its leadership structure and internal regulations, as well as its future action plans and strategic direction.

Prime Minister Hun Manet commended the KAS for its accomplishments and encouraged the association to keep uniting artists from various disciplines, offering them opportunities to enhance the nation's artistic landscape. He particularly highlighted the need to support disadvantaged and elderly artists who are no longer able to perform, underscoring the government's commitment to the welfare of its cultural figures.
